Housing for those in need

March was a busy month at Springs Rescue Mission! Our shelter program remained busy with a nightly average of 281 guests (214 men and 67 women), and we are happy to report that 59 of those guests maintained jobs in the community during the month. However, the average weekly income of these workers was just $403, which is not enough to afford non-subsidized housing in the area. We continue to provide shelter guests with a safe, stable, temporary housing platform at SRM until they are able to find permanent housing.Serving hundreds dailyNearly 16,000 hot meals were served out of Samaritan's Kitchen last month, averaging roughly 500 meals daily. 366 meals were also served at the "Easter Alive" banquet on Good Friday, including ham and pies provided by the Motorcycle Club of Monument. Food Services continues to be supported by generous donors and local businesses, including The Broadmoor, which donated almost 2,000 pounds of food throughout March.

A record-breaking monthThe Resource Center exceeded over 1,000 client connections, which is a new monthly record! Roughly 40 guests were placed on the housing voucher wait list for the community, and 8 were selected for these housing vouchers. Aspen Pointe's case manager also set a new monthly record by conducting 90 client sessions.Time for celebrationThe men's New Life Program celebrated three graduations in March, bringing the to 16 since last July. There are also 9 men in the final phase of the program, and they will be eligible for graduation once they've secured housing. The NLP remains fully occupied with 41 participants working hard to overcome addiction, and a 30-60 day wait list has been implemented. Mission Inn remains full as well, with 14 men continuing their pathway out of addiction in a sober-living home.Filling the needs of families

Our Supportive Family Services team was blessed to host the "Easter Alive" banquet on Good Friday (see above). Additionally, over 640 unique families stopped by the "store" for food, clothing, and other household necessities. This brings the total number of unique families helped since last July to over 2,600! The Homeless Outreach team also made 50 individual contacts in March, and gave out socks, water, and information about Springs Rescue Mission to people struggling with homelessness throughout the community.Because you read this update, you'll love our blog.
