Dear neighbor,As I reflect on my first year at Springs Rescue Mission, I can’t help but feel thankful.I knew a lot about the Mission and its work before I became its President & CEO, but to be immersed in the work every day is something truly special. Daily, I am privileged to work with dedicated staff who put their hearts and souls into engaging with our guests and clients.Every single day, I witness the generosity and commitment of those who support our organization — often in beautifully sacrificial ways — by giving their time, using their talents and donating their finances. When I come to work each day, I get to see God at work in peoples’ lives. I get to see amazing change in peoples’ lives as they move from clinging to what little hope they may have to seizing whatever opportunities we’re able to provide them. The guests and clients who are moving through our programming and seizing those opportunities are not becoming just rehabilitated versions of their past selves. They are being transformed by the restorative power of Christ. They are becoming entirely new beings with an understanding of their true worth, their true dignity and the realization that they are unconditionally loved by God.The holiday season is upon us once again, and I’m once again asking myself, “where has the time gone?” As I ask myself that question, I am also asking God to fill my heart with the wonder of His grace in this meaningful season. This is a season to reflect on the gifts we’ve been given — the blessings of family, friends and community. I also feel a gratefulness for you. You choose to walk with us and bless us with what God has given you, and that is making a real difference for our neighbors in need and this wonderful city of Colorado Springs.Happy Thanksgiving,Jack BriggsPresident & CEO
