From men and women graduating from addiction recovery programs to folks at the Mission starting a running club, it has been a busy couple of months.Oh yeah, and the July edition of SRM's bimonthly newsletter hit the shelves!
“It just blows my mind and brings tears to my eyes when I see what God has done. He did it, not us. We were just blessed enough to be a part of it.”When Marilyn Vyzourek and her husband Paul began handing out sack lunches at local parks in 1995, they had no idea it would evolve into what is now Springs Rescue Mission. Nevertheless, their work has transformed generations. The July newsletter also includes stories of men and women working to overcome homelessness, poverty and addiction.READ MORE HERE
Throughout its 25-year history, Springs Rescue Mission has been devoted to helping those struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction. But there has been a gap. There have been 12-step meetings and a men’s residential recovery program, but no program specifically designed to help those needing something in between — particularly women.“Springs Rescue Mission staff and leadership have realized the felt need for intervention programs aimed at individuals unable or unready to commit to long-term residential treatment,” said Joel Siebersma, SRM’s director of health programs.Last year, Siebersma’s team set out to fill those gaps with a new Intensive Outpatient Program for substance abuse treatment — for both men and women. So far, six individuals have graduated the four-month program — including Dina, Thomas and Gloria (pictured above in that order).READ MORE HERE

About a dozen of their employees volunteered their time and resources to serve our guests delicious burgers, hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches. Thank you guys!
There’s always something new happening on campus! This time, SRM staff and guests have started a chapter of the Up and Running Again program — a nationwide effort to encourage men and women experiencing homelessness and addiction. They plan to run a half-marathon in Denver this October!
While attending a women’s Bible study led by a wonderful volunteer named Terese, Cristin decided to take the next step. She was baptized earlier this week!“At SRM, we want to take clients deeper into their faith journey if it is their desire," said SRM Chaplain David Packiam. "Baptism is an identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is also a public declaration of an inner conversion. They are now a new creation as the old has passed away. This deeper commitment to faith is so encouraging to us!”
There have been a lot of graduations lately — and we love it. CJ recently graduated the New Life Program (men’s residential addiction recovery).“I do what it takes to get things done,” he said. “I like that about myself.”During his year in the program, he also received a certification in Catering and Hospitality from Mission Culinary Academy. He is now an intern for SRM's food services program. His graduation verse was 1 Peter 1:13-16: “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Without a warm and safe place to sleep, many of our homeless neighbors wouldn’t survive on the streets.
Every dollar you donate will be matched,
doubling the impact you have
on homeless neighbors in your community!
Help us reach our goal by September 30!
