November is recognized as National Homeless Awareness Month, so we thought we’d throw out a few ideas of how you can help the homeless in the Colorado Springs community – and maybe have a little fun too. If you’re in town, check out the following events in the next few weeks.

Go to the “2019 Hunger Games Comedy Improv-A-Thon”

When: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 (doors open at 6:00 p.m.)Where: Stargazers Theatre and Event Center (10 S. Parkside Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80910)What: A hilarious night of improv comedy for a great cause. The Hunger Games Improv-A-Thon is a fundraiser for Springs Rescue Mission, featuring comedy groups Stick Horses in Pants, Unsupervised Improv and Oxymorons Comedy.How much: $10 advanced general admission, $15 general admission at the door

See The Vagrant, a play by Brett Hursey

When: 7:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Nov. 23Where: Funky Little Theater Company (1367 Pecan St. Colorado Springs, CO 80904)What: The Vagrant is a story about a homeless man living in New York City. He encounters stockbrokers and offers insight into the retail habits of the working class. He’s joined by his homeless friend Maggie, a well-meaning caseworker and a neurotic hot dog vendor in this story of life on the streets. All proceeds benefit the Give! Campaign.How much: $19 general admission, $15 military / teachers / first responders

Watch The Public, a movie about homelessness

“We Have a Story: Homeless in Colorado Springs” photo exhibition

When: Until the end of NovemberWhere: Library 21C (1175 Chapel Hills Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80920) and Penrose Library (20 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903)What: A photo-documentary project completed in 2019 by people experiencing homelessness that has become a two-part exhibition. Each photographer selected two images for the show and wrote a story to accompany them.How much: Free
