November is recognized as National Homeless Awareness Month, so we thought we’d throw out a few ideas of how you can help the homeless in the Colorado Springs community – and maybe have a little fun too. If you’re in town, check out the following events in the next few weeks.

The Hunger Games Improv-A-Thon is a fundraiser for Springs Rescue Mission, featuring comedy groups Stick Horses in Pants, Unsupervised Improv and Oxymorons Comedy.How much: $10 advanced general admission, $15 general admission at the door
When: 7:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Nov. 23Where: Funky Little Theater Company (1367 Pecan St. Colorado Springs, CO 80904)What: The Vagrant is a story about a homeless man living in New York City. He encounters stockbrokers and offers insight into the retail habits of the working class. He’s joined by his homeless friend Maggie, a well-meaning caseworker and a neurotic hot dog vendor in this story of life on the streets. All proceeds benefit the Give! When: Any time you likeWhere: Your couchWhat: An act of civil disobedience turns into a standoff with police when homeless people in Cincinnati take over the public library to seek shelter from the bitter cold. The movie is written and directed by Emelio Estevez and stars Alec Baldwin, Jena Malone and Christian Slater (as well as Estevez).How much: $3.99 on Amazon Prime, Google Play, YouTube and Vudu

Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80907)What: Building Three Coffee will partner with Springs Rescue Mission to bring awareness to and emphasize engagement with the issue of homelessness in Colorado Springs. When: Until the end of NovemberWhere: Library 21C (1175 Chapel Hills Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80920) and Penrose Library (20 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903)What: A photo-documentary project completed in 2019 by people experiencing homelessness that has become a two-part exhibition. Each photographer selected two images for the show and wrote a story to accompany them.How much: Free
