Health & Meals

Nutrition & Hygeine

At Springs Rescue Mission, we are dedicated to compassionately serving homeless and hungry neighbors with as they work to regain their health.

We understand that the men and women we serve desperately need access to nutritious meals, daily showers, laundry services and personal hygiene items.

By offering our guests access to these essentials, we aim to create a safe and dignified environment where they can focus on getting healthy — and staying that way!

Daily Feeding Program

We serve three nutritious meals a day, 365 days a year, to anyone who walks through our doors.

These meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and are designed to provide balanced nutrition to those in need. We believe that a hearty meal can provide not only physical sustenance but also a sense of dignity and comfort.

After years of planning and prayer, Springs Rescue Mission unveiled its new 10,000-square-foot, 185-seat Kitchen and Dining Hall in 2021. Because of the support of neighbors like you, our compassionate culinary team currently serves nearly 250,000 meals each year to hungry neighbors in Colorado Springs.

“It’s a place people feel good about being in, and it will be a great gathering place for people who are homeless and have nowhere else to go to have a nice dining experience.” – Cindy, guest

Personal Hygiene

Maintaining personal hygiene is crucial for overall health and well-being.

However, for those living on the streets or in temporary shelters, access to clean water, shower facilities and laundry services can be scarce or nonexistent. Lack of access to proper hygiene services can lead to health issues, social isolation, and decreased opportunities for employment or housing.

Regular showers, clean clothes, and proper laundry care not only help prevent illnesses and infections but also have a profound impact on mental and emotional health. Basic hygiene can restore a sense of normalcy and self-esteem, which are often eroded by the challenges of homelessness.

Showers

Our shower facilities offer a clean and private space for individuals to take showers regularly. We provide clean towels, toiletries and a warm, comfortable environment. The availability of showers helps restore a sense of dignity, improves physical well-being and promotes confidence.

Laundry Services

Our laundry facilities are equipped with washers, dryers and laundry supplies. Individuals can wash and dry their clothes, blankets and other essential items. Access to laundry services not only ensures clean clothing but also helps prevent the spread of infections and diseases. Clean clothes also contribute to a positive self-image and enhance opportunities for employment and housing.

Addiction Recovery

Substance abuse and addiction can be significant obstacles to overcoming homelessness.

We offer both residential and outpatient addiction recovery programs to support individuals on their journey to recovery and stability.

Our faith-based programs include also counseling, support groups, education and ongoing relational care.

We provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to address their addiction, find support, and develop the tools necessary for a healthier, substance-free life.

Addiction overcomes. Lives transformed.

At Springs Rescue Mission, our addiction recovery programs are guided by compassion, understanding, and a commitment to the well-being of every individual seeking help. We believe in the power of transformation and offer a supportive community where individuals can find healing, discover their potential, and rebuild their lives.

These four components are based on Mark 12:30, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your HEART, and with all your SOUL, and with all your MIND, and with all your STRENGTH.”

  • Spiritual: Every day starts with devotions and worship. Bible study, recovery meetings, and weekly church attendance follow throughout the week. The goal is for each man to be able to live the rest of his life with solid biblical understanding as he journeys through recovery with a relationship with Jesus Christ. A volunteer mentor helps with spiritual support as well.
  • Counseling/Case Management: Each man is assigned a Case Manager who will work with him throughout the New Life Program. Our Case Managers strive to offer personal counsel and spirit-led insight to address and resolve issues related to previous life choices. NLP residents also participate in self evaluations, process groups, and counseling sessions.
  • Education: The Career Advancement Center (CAC) offers comprehensive education in academic subjects and career development/readiness. Residents improve reading, grammar and math skills, and learn basic computer operation. If necessary, men are able to obtain a GED and prepare for higher education opportunities. Classes in life skills supplement academic learning. Career employment classes offer residents the opportunity to explore viable career options and prepare accordingly for successful employment.
  • Work Assignments: Our work assignment component develops basic proficiencies that successful employees need. These include following instructions, punctuality, working with others, submitting to authority, finishing a job to completion, and resolving work conflict issues.

Residential & Outpatient Treatment

Our residential addiction recovery program offers a safe and structured environment for individuals who require intensive support and a focused approach to overcoming addiction. Our outpatient addiction recovery program offers flexible options for individuals who require a less intensive level of care or who have completed our residential program.

Here's what you can expect from our residential program:

Individualized Treatment Plans: We recognize that each person's journey to recovery is unique. Our team of experienced professionals works closely with each individual to create personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Comprehensive Support: Our program incorporates evidence-based therapies, counseling, group sessions, educational workshops, and life skills training. We provide a holistic approach to recovery, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of addiction.

Safe and Supportive Environment: Our residential facility offers a supportive community where individuals can connect with peers who understand the challenges they face. We foster an environment of respect, empathy, and accountability to promote growth and healing.

Relapse Prevention Strategies: Our program equips individuals with effective relapse prevention strategies, teaching them essential skills to manage triggers, cope with stress, and maintain sobriety in their daily lives.

Aftercare Planning: We understand that recovery is an ongoing process. Our team assists individuals in developing a comprehensive aftercare plan that includes continued support, access to resources, and connections to community-based programs and support groups.
